We redesigned a kitchen in a 1960s detached property in West Derby for a family who wanted to open up the kitchen into the separate dining room at the rear. The kitchen was boxed in, dark, and disconnected from where the family actually spent their time. We removed the internal wall between the two rooms, installed a beam, redesigned the kitchen to wrap around the new open space, and fitted a new kitchen throughout. The difference was remarkable. What had been two separate small rooms became one large, light, and functional kitchen-dining space.
